The birthday festivity of Baosheng Emperor, the guardian at Dalongdong Baoan Temple, is on the 15th day of the 3rd lunar month. From the day on, the annual Baosheng Cultural Festival will be held for nearly 2 months. Activities, for example, Yi-zen Performances, Surname Folk Opera Series, Chinese & Western concerts, Guided Tours of the Historic Site, or free Chinese-medicine clinics and seminars, Literary Contests, and exhibition of antiques, are mainly related to religion, custom, as well as culture. Based on folklore belief, the event has given religion, culture, tourism and tradition new meanings, turning the festival a well-known carnival in Northern Taiwan.
