Traditional Taiwanese FoodWe came for dinner to 阿才的店 (Ah Cai de dian means Ah Cai Restaurant) located at No. 26號, Section 2, Ren'ai Road, Zhongzheng District. We ordered the famous 阿才豆腐 （Ah Cai Toufu with duck and pork sausage chinese salted ham, mushrooms and beans) and 油條阿仔 (dough fritters with vegetables). It was out of this world. Never tasted such combination. We also ordered the 空心菜 （kangkong fried with dried red chili). A potent combination. Recommended if you want to try traditional Taiwanese food away from the usual touristy crowd. The ambience was like a scene from an old Japanese Hut with chinese posters from movies of 60/70. The guests were mainly local Taiwanese and Japanese. A hidden gem tucked away in a small street corner.

Simple dishes yet satisfyingWe came as two families on a weeknight. The place was still not full when we arrived. It has a homey feel. We ordered grilled fish and fried milkfish, pig knuckles, fish soup and eggplants.
阿才的店_Taiwanese cuisines & stir fries in retro Taiwanese style DecoI love 阿才的店, it's got all types of Taiwanese cuisine, and quick stir fries that are tasty and go so well with 18 days Taiwanese beer. We order the fried preserved eggs, it looks pitch black but taste great. I also recommend beef stir fry with water spinach in barbecue sauce and cabbage stir fry with dry chili and vinegar, strangely enough, they are match mate in heaven. At the end we ordered pork belly pickle soup, which is the perfect ending. I love their small 2 story house, with many retro goodies, it's like going back to grandma's house to eat, it's definitely a Taiwanese culture you have to experience.
