A Chinese fine dining restaurant located in the museum compound. We had course dinner with a good variety of delicacies served by attentive staff. The cabbage dish was decorated exactly as the exhibit in the museum!

Can a lunch customer continue with afternoon tea?

We spent quite some time in the national palace museum and finally decided to call it a day and go for late lunch. We reached the silks palace around 2:15 pm for lunch. It was quite empty and we were shown to a table quickly. Shortly after we ordered the dishes, the staff came around and asked us if we have any last order as they will be closing for lunch soon. After we said we don't have any more dishes to order, they gave us the bill which we settled promptly. Sometime before 3pm, a staff came to us and told us that we need to vacate the table at 3pm. We thought the afternoon tea is a buffet session and they need us to vacate the table in order not to mix up the lunch and afternoon tea clientele so we said ok. As we were finishing our lunch, we noticed that some tables next to us were served snacks in miniature display shelf alike. When a staff passed by our table, we inquired and was informed that it was a dish in the afternoon tea menu and the afternoon tea is not a buffet. We wonder, can a lunch customer continue to order from the afternoon tea menu? Lunch tasted ok. Nothing fantastic. The pork was a bit tough. Total bill was only NT$2046 for three pax.

    Nice restaurant

Their half/half noodle soup is delicious. I think that had one of the best broths I've tasted. Dumplings are okay but just A-OK. Just a quick tip, don't pay at your table. You ask for your bill then go to the front and pay. Otherwise, you won't see your credit card for a good 15-20 min. I thought someone shredded my credit card and trying to put all back together.

A very nice lunch on a great museum outing.

This is a good sit-down restaurant that works with a great volume of museum goers during the lunch hour. There are set lunch menus that are very well constructed as well as a la carte options. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options including two complete lunch sets. The preparation was very good, the service prompt and friendly, the portions modest. It was a great place to have lunch with a group and somehow the noise of the place did not overwhelm the conversation. And this good a museum experience invites conversation. Lunch was around US$30-35 per person and worth it. I'll go back.
