In the evening of July 5, Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua presided over the first fireworks show of the 2023 Dadaocheng Summer Festival. Seeing the large crowd at the venue, she excitedly asked the audience whether they feel very fortunate and happy? She also mentioned that while Mayor Chiang Wan-an is currently in Singapore, he is still keeping track of what’s going on at Dadaocheng.
Lin pointed out that during past Dadaocheng Summer Festivals, the fireworks show usually takes place on Chinese Valentine Day. However, hoping to prolong the event’s impact upon local businesses thanks to the overwhelming attendance, the city government decided to extend the Dadaocheng Summer Festival from a single day event to a 51-day fest starting this year. In other words, the festival will last from the start of summer break to Chinese Valentines Day on August 20.
During the event period, a weekly firework show lasting 180 seconds will take place every Wednesday night at 8:30 PM. On August 20, the final day of the event, there will be an amazing, 480-second-long fireworks shows celebrating Chinese Valentine Day.
Regarding the display of pyrotechnics, the city government invited WEDO Lighting – an illumination planning company from Dadaocheng – to design an illumination environment which takes into account the terrain characteristics of the Dadaocheng wharf and nearby riverbank to optimizing fireworks visual for viewers.
For those who arrive at Dadaocheng ahead of the scheduled fireworks show, the deputy mayor suggested dining and shopping at nearby commercial districts before heading down to the event by the wharf. She also welcomes friends from across the island and foreign tourists to come and savor the fine food, culture, history, and creative culture industry of Dadaocheng during this period.
