Would you like try a special tea that is unique to Taiwan in a truly authentic setting? I’m sure you would like to know how it all originated. To understand the context of tea in Maokong, it is necessary to go back to the beginning. There is no better place to experience tea in its purest form than the Tea Master Chang Nai-Miao Memorial Hall, dedicated to a tea pioneer of the same name.

Chang Nai-Miao’s story is one of serenity and dedication. At only 20 years of age, he introduced Tieguanyin tea to Taiwan, bringing plants of tea from his hometown of Fujian, China to Muzha. He dedicated himself to preserve and promote the knowledge of Taiwanese teas. Although the Baozhong and Oolong teas were the main teas that were planted back then, Muzha is now famous for Tieguanyin tea owing to Chang NaiMiao’s passion and legacy.

Over the years, generations of Chang Nai-Miao’s family have worked enthusiastically at the Memorial Hall to preserve and build upon his knowledge of tea and share it with the community. From cooperating with farmers around Taiwan, to offering advanced tea classes, the Curator Zhang and his team are dedicated to dispensing this vital knowledge.

More than anything, Curator Zhang is serious about offering a pure appreciation of tea for visitors. For this reason, meals and other beverages are not provided in the hall. This kind of dedication towards their craft is awe-inspiring, and brings about a feeling of respect. If you are interested in experiencing tea in its purest form it is highly recommended to visit the memorial hall.
